Disco series 1 headlight adjusters !

Can anyone help me please , -I am looking to change the headlights on my series 1 ( 1991 model ) so I bought a tidy pair from eBay a while back . I deceided to change them over on the w/end but when starting to remove my old units I noticed that the adjusting screw is different on the replacement units ! the units are identical in every way apart from the top two adjustment screws - the old units have a swivel type screw with a flat part at the end of the thread where the plastic adjustement knob fits whereas the replacements just have solid threads !! maybe the swivel part comes off the old unit but it doesnt look as if it does and anyway how would it fit onto the replacements ? Is it just that I need headlights for the very early discos as they are different ?? Thank you in advance .

Hi , no they dont , the old units seem to have swivel threads ( like on ball joints )lattatched to the actual light unit . The replacement units have solid threads attatched to the unit that are fixed .

mine have threaded studs on the headlight and the adjusters are clipped into the headlight front panel. these are turned by orange adjusters.

will take piccies tomoz, if required.

either some one bodged them or their not disco lights unless their D2 lights wait there I'll go & look at me parts catalog again.

Sounds like the replacement ones I have , maybe I need to change the adjusters on the front panel so that they will fit . How exactly do they adjust then when the screw thread is fixed ?

Reet had a look and there's 2 headlamps for the series 1 disco carrello, which have the ball joint adjusters and Wipac which doesn't show any adjusters except the electric motor at the bottom of the lamp and some square connectors at the top but non adjustable??????

I think you've sloved it , if there are two types I've got the wrong ones ( typical ) mine have the ball joint adjusters fixed to the actual unit as you described.

adjuster on the lhs is for power headlight adjustment, rhs adjustment is for setting up headlights.
