Disco II Ashtray

Afternoon,
I was wondering if anybody knows of a method to release the front ashtray?
It's jammed and from the stink I would say full of fags!!!!
I've managed to get rid of most of the smell from the rest of the car but it's still stinking a bit.

I was hoping the butts wouldn't be too short and I could get a wheeze on some of the longer ones

I hope i am not stating the obvious but i presume you are aware that you need to push the ashtray in first and then it will slowly come out to fully open all on its own.
otherwise no i dont have a clue how to get it open!!!!

Thanks, but yes I know about pushing it in, coin holder works great. But the cup holder and ashtray are knackered, not bothered about using them I just want to get rid of the butts.
I've tried gently prying but that's just going to leave marks all round the edge if I'm not careful.
