disco 300tdi problum

hey up chaps im wondering if anybody could shed a bit of light ive got with my 300tdi disco 95 auto es. when driving normal speeds its fine and when you let of the throttle but if u just touch the throttle it kind of misses and the check engine light comes on then goes of as u accelerate or back off again ive disonnected egr valve and blocked pipe off but no change it has a mass air flow sensor could this be the problum any help guys would be good cheers Andy.

Hi Bunnybasher, got exactly the same problem, think i've narrowed it down to the MAF, if i disconnect it the performance is the same but the power loss/missing problem stops and the check engine light stops flashing on. I have searched endlessly for a replacement new part (I assume yours is the same, i.e. a bosch unit 0281 002 092) and cant find one for less than £360!! went second hand and got one for £30, fitted it yesterday and didn't work!! not sure now if its another faulty part i bought or if i'm barking up the wrong tree! anyone got any idea how to test these things?
