I can hear and feel the solenoid clicking inside the lower tailgate when I try to open the upper door, but the lock wont open. No inside option to open it without some demolition work I think !! Any suggestions ????

Hi,there is a cable that pulls the catch when you press the button,the cable has a hook on the end and it snaps off.You cant buy the cable you have to buy the solenoid and cable.You also need the bottom tail gate trim panel as you have to break the old one of.

Went at it this morning and released the top door by drilling through the trim and opening the catch with a screwdriver. Got the cable repaired by using a large electrical strip connecter and 3 tie-wraps. Thanks for the info, you were spot on.
