Hi all,
Opened a window the other day and the glass dropped into the door (didn't break). Popped the door card off tonight and the mechanics of the window opener are fine, but it appears the rail that's attached to the glass is shot.

From what I can see online, that rail comes as part of a new piece of glass which seems insane. I just want to bond on a new rail, attach it to the rail, and boom - job done.

Anyone know of a workaround? It's a Discovery MK 2 TD5 ES.

Thanks in advance.

That happened to mine. I stuck it back together with silicone and it's held up OK for over a year now. I still had one end connected though - yours might be in a worse state.

Yeah, it's both sides that are goosed. I was going to stitch it together with a bit of welding, but I don't think it's doable and the metal has kind of torn. Can't believe there's no other solution other than to buy a whole new window! Seems incredibly wasteful and a real pain to get the glass in and out of the door frame....

From memory, it's only a simple U section that should be reasonably easy to knock something up.

But my memory isn't what it used to be.....

when my window mech self destructed i got all my parts from brookwells, don't bother with the rubber that goes in the lift channel as you will never be able to fit it, just use silicon.
