Hi all i have a land rover discovery 2 v8 and it has a couple of issues that i need some advise on.
I have searched on here and the net but im struggling to find guides or answers.
Ok first one is the car makes a vibrating rubbing groaning noise when turning the steering while stationary or moving at low speed below 5mph and turning full lock either way, it is fine out on the road and at speed, however there is also the occasional whine noise sounds like wheel bearing but i have had all wheel bearings replaced, i do not know if these problems are related but i have noticed there is what looks like diff oil leaking from the front diff where it joins onto the hub, i think there is a seal there that may need replacing, also is there another bearing on the diff? it could also be the above that is causing the dreaded three amigos to come on (abs light hill decent light and traction control light)
So it could be one problem causing all three symptoms or it could be a multitude of issues.
Any advise would be great.
Second problem is sometimes my ace control box under the drivers side makes a sneezing noise every few seconds is this normal, there are no ace leaks and the pump seems to be pumping the fluid round.
Again any help would be much appreciated as both have me stumped.
All the best Matt

hi matt sounds like power steering pump is not happy and lower linkage wear, I had a similer problem replaced lower steering linkage with a bearmac replacement and used wyns power steering conditioner for the pump all noises gone

definitely power steering pump, I got the same problem and am planning to keep it until it fails

Power steering feels fine smooth not notchy doesn't feel tight or to loose
the noise is more of a groaning noise it only does it if turning the wheel when stationary or very low speeds, i notice it every time im maneuvering into parting spaces.
