disco 2 v8 inspection bung

hi any body come across this before.
on the opersite to the starter where the bell housing bolts on just below the sensor, there is a round hole and you can see the ring gear.
should there be a bung in there, landrover have no idea having spoke to them a few times.
its not shown on the rav cd and not on landr.overs cd
is it a drain hole

It is the access hole to undo the flexplate bolts on the automatic gearbox. Look on the RAVE CD under the auto box.

Mine has one each side with a rubber bung in.

My bad:

The flexplate access holes are in the sump flange below.

The hole being discussed is for the CKP speed sensor pickup used on Sagem & Thor injection systems.
