Fitted new locking mechanism to disco2 tail gate, closed tail gate door, before using remote key fob tail gate door refuses to open from outside or inside. Help!!!!!

Did you disconnect the battery ? Not sure if that would make a difference ?

Have you tried pulling the seal out of the way on the inside to access the child lock? It's roughly in line with the interior door handle on the right hand edge of the door.
