Can anyone tell me the weight of a 1991 Disco 2.0 tdi, i need to hire a trailer to shift one and they wont rent it to me unless i can tell them the weight of the cargo. Many Thanks.

you'll need a twin axle jobby for a disco

it int number of axles that matters it's the MAM of the trailer that's important. for a disco you need a minimum MAM of 2500kg. as the trailer will weigh the best part of 500kg.

I had a twin Axle trailer and it's MAM was 750Kg, (unbraked) but even braked the Axles were only rated at 1tonne each so it's MAM would have been 2tonne.

Edit:: http://www.iwt.co.uk/products/cartrans/ct136.htm both twin axle but one is rated 2000kg tuther is rated 2600kg. unladen weight is 500kg so 1500Kg & 2100Kg payloads respectively.

The disco weighs 2000kg give or take a few kg. The average trailer capable of carrying one will weigh in at 700 or 800kg on it's own. So you're looking at probably a 3500kg trailer. What you gonna tow it with and have you got a licence to tow that much? If you haven't towd stuff like this before it'll be an interesting experience, particularly if you don't get the trailer balanced properly.

Recently towed a 200 tdi disco on a Brian James tri-axle trailer TT-T-307, gross weight 3.5 tonnes with a maximum load of 2.7 tonnes (it's a very heavy trailer.) Pulled this with a Defender 90 200 tdi. No problems what so ever. The disco was loaded correctly so as not to over load the tow bar on the defender with too great a vertical load (not to exceed 150 kg)

ok maybe not the number of axles, i was reffering to the maximum load weight of the tyres, you will need 4 if they are anything like normal road tyres, hence the twin axle statement but you are right in what you say its the MAM that has the final say
