OK, so I got a disco 1 having previously only had series. Have been adding a few bits and bobs here and there, however mainly just fixing it. I thought a disco might be more reliable than a S3....alas no :'(

So begins the job list

Banging out a small tree that was wedged between the chases and body...light finger pressure required.

This then required a new shock as it had smashed it to leaking status

In taking the shock off, it snapped the mounting.....so a new one of those with lots of grinding

Whilst under there noticed the prop was a little loose, fairly sure you shouldn't be able to move a UJ with just your little finger

Took her for a test ride, got 100m and the belt tensioner popped

Then onto slightly more fun things, I got round to fitting the winch :)

Isolator fitted just under the light, like to be able to turn it off without lifting the bonnet

Finally I got bored of the dodgy cree spot, so fitted 4 new cheepo ones, sealing them first...fingers crossed they don't leak again.

Finally I went and changed the H4 bulbs to make it all a bit brighter.
Plenty of other plans, it would just be nice to keep her on the road for more than a week at a time if at all possible please Land Rover gods?
 
Powder coated 3mm checker plate fitted :)
Nice and sturdy now, should be good for when I manage to find myself a roof rack

Fitted a net to the bonnet, should be good for throwing the tow straps under when offroad
Changed the washer jets, I now have water again :)
and the important one was replacing the headlight mountings. Originally had the dipable motor which had died on both lights, but Im not that worried about it to spend £40 a light for a new one, so the £2.50 bolt versions will be fine.

Anybody know the pattern and hight that the headlights should be set at? Ive taken a best guess for now.

Oh, new clutch tomorrow :(

I also took a best guess for the headlight height after i replaced mine - might have to pop to a garage and ask them to check.

What are the wires for?
 
In which case I assume that you have driven it as it appears in the pictures, without the splices/swages made properly and just some tape holding the wires in place. With the eyebolt at the top sticking out a mile. So that if a modest branch like the one that broke my Defender windscreen (but would have swept up off a Discovery screen) would either pull the wire loose or bend and snap your cheap eyebolt.

In other words, it's more important to you that the car looks expedition-ready than the fact that any of the kit actually works.

In answer to your question, they are taped until I finalise the design. You are correct, the M6 bolts weren't up to it, so since have replaced with M10. This will change shortly when I get the roof rack painted and mounted, then the cables will connect to that.

Thank you for your concern, I was out at the weekend and with the M10 bolts held up quite nicely to the bushes I drove through though which will suffice for the time being. I'm out again Wednesday evening as well, I'll keep you posted on their survivability then as well if you like?
 
Yup done loads, just have given up on this forum after the above.

Replaced the clutch
All 4 wheel bearings, calliper bolts seized so had to split the axel and weld them free
New wheels
New tyres
Swapped seat foam
Wired up the tow bar electrics
Cleaned engine bay
Replaced headlight towing adjusters
New gearbox gator seal
....off the top of my head.
