Disco 1 Disco 1 200tdi - Rear wiper motor working but not moving.

Hi all,

Disco 1 200tdi rear wiper motor can hear turning spinning or doing something but the wiper is not moving, guessing the pinion is seized any advice on how to fix this.

Have you removed your plastic cover to see if the pinion/nut is rotating , normally just the nut needs tightening to grab the wiper onto the pinion.

So removed the wiper and nothing is moving from the exterior point of the land rover.

I haven't looked inside under the plastic cover but believed this to be rusted in place, how do you free this up?

There isn’t a rack so it’s possible the shaft has snapped, basically another motor required,

There are plastic gears inside the motor they may have stripped but you are unlikely to source parts,
Probably easier to get a second hand motor complete,

Thanks Ivor. I managed to take this out of the disco yesterday, and take everything apart the single plastic gear looks to be in working order, I'm unsure of the internals of the actual motor itself.

The pinion was rusted and seized to the housing, manage to get this apart and will lubricate everything put this back together and see what happens.

So after getting all the internals moving and back on the car turns out as above, the plastic cog is stripped.

Would anyone know where to purchase a spare or some kind of 3d printed version?

Not the cheapest but doable, or check around some of the Land Rover breakers,

3 D printing won’t work, the gears are nylon and much harder than plastic from a 3D machine,
