Hello,

Me and my father have numerous MG's, that we race have fun with so have the work space in the back to look after them. Recently we've seen a few Defenders on TV programs being restored, and after seeing a few in real life, we're after one.

Now, the only problem we have a narrow garage door due to the steel beams holding it up. It's just over 1.6m wide. I have had a look online for width of numerous different 90 models and can't find the answer. I think we're ideally looking for anything from a series 2 to a defender 90. There seems to be so many different variations, that looking for something that could fit has proved difficult. We would be happy with anything, but width is the issue.

There is such a large range of them around, I think we would also need help looking for a suitable one to start work on.

Regards,
Robert

hi robert.
firstly if i was you i would go to the introduce yourself section and do just that, otherwise some of the natives will get restless.:tea:
as for your question, have a look on google for the answer.or wait until someone tries to help you.:tea:

Sorry, it seems not introducing myself was a mistake on my part, though I have now done it and can be read.

Thanks for that, it seems my searching skills need to be improved upon.

After looking into it, it looks like we might have to remove the garage door to allow us to get a 90 in, after finding the dimensions for a series 3, it looks like that might just squeeze in so I guess that it what we need.

Reminds me of a story I heard about Ford's Cortina production. Cars being shipped were an inch too wide and so they had a press that would squeeze them slightly so they would fit.

I wonder if the lightweight is narrower? Its made to a specific dimension and has flat doors like the Series 1 so I reckon its worth checking.
