Difflock, is mine working?

I was reversing a couple of tonne of timber on my trailer this morning over 4 inches of snow and poor enough ground. The landy started slipping so I put it in difflock but I still got nowhere, by opening the drivers door I could see the back wheel was spinning but I was alone so no way to see if the front wheel on the passenger side was spinning too. I got out to see the track it made and I dont think it was, not sure though.
I fixed the linkage a few years ago and the light on the dash always comes on when I use it . I jacked up one wheel just now with the handbreak off, main box in neutral and difflock off and the wheel spins and with the difflock on it wont spin. I did the same on the back axel with the same result. I think that means everything works fine but I've been wrong before?

Sounds like a reasonable test to me. If you drove back over the slide mark it might not be obvious.

The best way to check if it is indeed in Diff Lock would be to park up on a flat surface, chock the wheels, take yr handbrake off and take the car out of gear, lift one wheel off the ground.
If ya can spin tha wheel round yr not in Diff lock, Simples

Thats exactly what he did, and is the best test of whether centre difflock works.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to mention that I searched first and found that test on here, I was just making sure I had followed it properly
