Difficulty selecting gears

Hi there,

I have major difficulty selecting any gear with my 51 plate TD4. Once it's in gear however, it drives perfectly. I have to really have to stamp on the clutch to the point where it hurts my leg in order to get it to change gear. Sometimes I have to turn the engine off just to change gear. It will change gear perfectly when the engine is off.

Any idea what's wrong?

Have ye got oil in yer gear box? Might be an idea to check it

Failing that, look towards the clutch side o' things, i.e knackered clutch, worn or damaged gear linkage or worn synchroniser units (whatever that means!)

stamping on clutch ,so you have a clutch problem, try leaving clutch pedal held down over night to see if this makes any difference
