Different Kinds of Imports?

I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place to be posting this thread. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help explain to me the differences in importing to the US from the UK, Italy, or Germany (as I am sure there are differences coming from different countries). I've read about specific forms required from the UK, but am confused on specifics for other countries. Thank you!

I haven't bought anything yet, but my top pick that I'm looking at is a 1989 Defender 90. I'm still in contact with the seller as far as specifics go (matching VINs and all that good stuff), but to answer your question, it will be a Defender of some sort in the end

Found this "The main documents you will need when importing a car from Italy are the vehicle’s foreign registration plates, proof of ownership of the vehicle, your driver’s license and passport, and the vehicle’s technical specifications from the manufacturer of the car. The shipping company will require you to provide an ignition key, as well as keys to the vehicle’s trunk and to any other locked compartment in the car. Shipping companies do not allow personal items and other goods to be stored in a vehicle during transit."

Dont forget the car has to be steam cleaned to prevent the cross continental contamination. I would suggest you to contact a company specialised in importing oldtimer vehicles to US. But still..they will not be able to make the actual pickup and inspection of vehicle - this is where I can come usefull - throw me a message, I can definitly help you, as this is exactly what I do

One of the key differences is going to be the vehicle regulations of the various countries. Some may have different limits than others in terms of engine size, safety features, and any number of other things. Your best bet may be to contact a shipper that works internationally and ask them as they would have the information handy I would think.
