My gearbox is suffering a bit of transmission slack as correctly diagnosed on this forum. Can get SH LT77 for really good price.

Its 93 200tdi 110 hi cap and I assumed it was an LT77 (REVERSE BESIDE 1ST).

But had a chap today tell me there were different versions of LT77 and also an LT85 in the TDI's. I was never aware of this. I thought you either had LT77 or R380 FULL STOP.

If there are different LT77s then how do I identify them?

lt85 only fits v8s there are a few types of lt77 fitted to diesel defenders all look and fit identically,50a and 56a and a 51a,the differ the number of input shaft gear teeth 50a and 51a has 21 and 56a 22 ,51 a has lowe 1st gear also, you also have suffix d,e,f,g and suffix h or s type ,suffix g is the best box , suffix h has compound 1st and 2nd which has a weakness in the form of 2 thrust washers that break
