diff oil change

can anyone help me I want to change the oil in my landrover disco td5 (2000) diffs

but not sure where to start, i.e what oil to replace it with, how much oil I will need for both diffs & how to drain the old oil out.

If I were you I'd get a garage to do it mate.

You're having your leg (or something) pulled. It's got to be one of the simplest jobs on a car.

First thing to do would be search for which type of oil and second get on your knees and get under your landy and have a look at your diff. If you can't work it out then as said take it to a garage.

ummm, have u tried reading the manual for quantity and type of oil??

I'll have a stab in the dark, not got a td5 mind

TYPE...ep90
QUANTITY... just under 2 litres per diff
HOW...undo fill plug first, then drain plug. watch the stinky stuff run all over your nice paving slabs cos the bucket was in the wrong place. put drain plug back in and fill up with nice clean oil

that'll be £50 quid please

It is, but if he can't even work out how to drain the old oil out, what bloody chance has he got of getting the refill right??

When you've sussed out what to do (see above

), take it for a quick run before you start, it'll warm the oil up a bit, and it'll come out a bit quicker

And DEFINITELY undo the FILLER first .. no good emptying it if you can't refill it ...

Nah, put new oil in first .. jack one side up, wheel, hub etc off, tip a few litres into the axle end, new seals, replace hub and wheel, job's a good 'un ..

Undo the drain plug when the diffs very hot, and gauge how much is left in, s'easy ...

Unlock door (the one near the round steering thingy).
Open the door, it should open towards you after you press the button and pull the handle.
Get into the seat, facing the wheel.
Put the ignition key into the key shape hole on the steering column.
Turn the key...............

Probably nothing 'cos you forgot to charge the battery .. sooo ... open the bonnet, look for a battery shaped thing ...

But how do I open "the bonnet" what is the "bonnet" is it something I can find myself??
