Can anyone tell me if theres a warning light on the dash that should illuminate when the diff lock is engaged (or when its in low range perhaps) and if there is does anyone know where the switch/sensor is on the gear box?

I reckon the light will be four wheels and driveshafts motif, unless thats for four wheel drive on vehicles that have selectable four wheel drive. But if they can use the choke light as the heater plug light then who knows. If you find the sender unit or the hole it fits in will you let us know.

All 90's 110's 130's Discos, RR's, FL's are 4 x 4 x always, I list them because I am not sure about series LR's

But back to the light, there will be what looks like a little cross, with little lines for wheels, my 90 1990 has it.

oh yeah.. the point of the question... well it should be on the transfer box lever, much like how the reverse light works. its really much the same type of thing, it is just a circuit for a light to warn the driver.

On my disco, after I have used the diff lock, I move the gear stick back to the normal position an the light does not allways go straight out, I believe this is because the difflock is wound up, so I don't believe that it is as simple as the reversing light switch.

Hope this helps.

diff lock wind up is bloody annoying on my TD5...you have to reverse for 10 or so yards to get back into a slip diff... always.

usually you don't need to reverse, you just drive the thing forward a lil usually less than 1m and the diff lock light will go out. strange why more than 10 yards?? how did you manage to wind it up so much. hmmm, watch the prop shafts. is something rattling now?? oppss.

same when you engage it, it does always immediately engage, sometimes you need to drive forward a lil.

the diff gets all stropy and accuses you of being some sort of sexual pervert. oh! sorry that a freelander wind-up. i suspose diff windup will be the same though.
