I can't get the diff lock knob to move to the left, BUT this isn't another of those threads!

My question is, what position should the high/low knob be in in order to move it across to the left? I've been searching the threads and someone mentioned it being like a conventional H type gate? In that case it would need to be in the middle to move across I think, then once across you would select High or Low?

Am asking because am about to try the brute force method first but didn't want to **** it across when in either H or L if it is supposed to be in N.

Easy question if you know the answer but not if you don't! :D

Thanks in advance!

It might not go ever.

Some Discos (like mine) do not have a centre diff lock because they have traction control instead.

BUT, some Discos with traction control still have the diff lock bits in there, and they CAN be made to work, although being DISABLED you would have to remove some bits and fit some.

In mine, I would need to buy and fit all the bits including most of the centre diff itself, and it isn't worth it. I will wait till the traction control is buggered, then fit a lockable diff from a scrapper.

DO NOT USE FORCE on your lever yet.

By the way, if it did have diff lock, you could shove the lever sideways to lock it from any position, HI, neutral, LOW, or anywhere in between.

Thanks for your reply, car is a 1998 V8 D1, so should definitely have difflock.

You did answer my question though, I was checking that the knob should move to the left when in either H or L, not just in N (it doesn't move to the left, at all).

I'll follow the good advice given in earlier threads now regarding freeing it off.

Many thanks.

Happy day for me!!!

Lots of spraying with penetrating oil, loads of wiggling and little ****ting with a hide hammer, and tonight I'm the very happy owner of a working diff lock!

Even the light works, how happy am I!?

Thanks for the help!

Orgasmic?

Oooopps .... Lord Slob, am I allowed to say that word?

Or is it OK because sooner or later every bit of a Landy will get F---ed?
