Just something to look for years ago I had a SD1 Rover with straight 6 engine which started squealing on gear changes and at certain position of throttle. Changed clutch ,thrust bearings plus other related bearings. Turned out to be blown gasket on inlet manifold sucking air, hence the whistle. Just a thought. Cost £1 for new gasket
Oh blimey mate sometimes its either simple or complex. Its got new gaskets on there, just putting it all back together.

How are you recovering from your operation by the way?

Fine thanks apart from just had covid 19 and that's affected my limbs and movement, so back on crutches. Apart from that always looking upwards and onwards
Have you tightened up the gaskets properly? I had damaged a gasket on mine tightening wrong

Some exhaust bolts have a shank that the nut comes up against, that wat the spring is kept at a constant pressure.
Not so sure on the bus mate.... I've never split mine apart.

Sorry to hear that last thing you needed was COVID, hope you are recovering well and wish you a speedy recovery!!

I checked the gaskets they are all ok, I am currently putting it all back together, is there a tightening sequence for the manifold?

Thanks Mark, had a look last night, the turbo has two shank bolts, so I don't think the nuts were done up to the shank which may well be my noise, annoyingly can't work on the car until Friday when I am off from work.

On manifolds I have always worked from the centre outwards, tightening up gradually as I go. ie Nip up in centre working out, tighten a bit more and so on. Best of luck.
Thanks for the good wishes

Just an update put all back together noise still there its a bearing of some sort.

Does anyone know what washer goes on the banjo oil feed pipe please?

I would upload the noise but this site does not allow me to.
