The wind turbine would have to be quite low to get under bridges etc. Therefore it would need to be guarded to satisfy health and safety regulations. The extra weight of turbine and guard would add significantly to the carbon footprint of the vehicle. Let's go back to the horse and cart.

I'll probably save more CO2 and other emissions by NOT buying a new car!

BTW we do also have an electric VW Up! It's a VW, so obviously doesn't have the range the manufacturer said it would, but it is very very cheap to run for the urban mileage it is put to use for. For long trips, we have the disease-al - and it'll happily do 45mpg all day long... but not a big annual mileage.

Scrappage schemes are a waste of resource and time. I want to keep my old 2003 2.0CDTi ZTT thanks.
