I've got the horrible task of changing my head gasket on the BMW 2.5 lump, reading Rave I can see the procedure need the timing chain tool kit (unfortunetly). However I wondered when I take the chain off the cam so I can get the head off should I make a note of what position it was in? I mean is it important to put it back in exactly the same position?

Thanks

Sorry but asking questions like, is it important for the chain to go back in the same position? Does not fill me will hope about your ability to do it. But if you are confident carry on, but get the timing kit and follow RAVE to the letter as regards procedure for sprocket removal cam refit and torquing the head down.
