Hi i sold a land rover 109 ffr 6 years ago and its come back to me as a real shed, i went and got it running yesterday after a polish mechanic fully rebuilt the engine and it was on 3.5 cylinders so eough to drive to my workshop but the mechanic put the alternator on upside down and now it does not charge and it squeals like a pig, if i turn it up the right way will it charge or am i changing it for my spare, there seems to be diesel in the brake fluid there is a sucm on the top and when you dip your finger in the fluid your finger is oily like you just stuck it in diesel not brake fluid can this be flushed out or is it a problem to get rid of it, and another polish mechanic made up some brakes for it out of god knows what and had to butcher the drums to get them on am i getting in to something bad here :wtf:

pics will come tommorow when the owner has lost his hangover and has a will to live again the series 24 volt alternator has identical bracketry top and bottom so if you have the beer goggles on it can be done but the big screw that you give grease to the bearing with is at the top becase grease flows down not up

There could be anything in that engine now, bits of tractor, lawnmowers,
chainsaw bits
Did you buy it? :D:D:D:D:D

dunno bout diesel but i personally have used fairy liquid as an emergency before now when me old series 3 burst one of its back cylinders got me home and didnt do any damage to the rest of the system

and really easy to see when youve got it all out of the system as the fairy is green and the brake fluid is yellow

and before now ive bought a van without looking at the brake fluid and ran the bugger for 12 months done a brake service and then noticed it was full of ATF fluid wich also didnt seem to bother it neither :D:D:D

Well, in theory maybe, but then you ain't Polish, them's do some wierd stuff man!!!
no way am i polish and believe me my neighbour is rebuilding his wodden house and we went in the forest to get the akro supports (trees) 2 monster farm jacks and he lifts the house up section by section and buts a tree branch under the corner ?? told him he is mental and i dont own it, i sold it 6 years ago and it has come back to me for maintenence because after seeing other mechanics working on it he said no way its going to your place you have all the proper manuals etc nightmare pics to come and much laughter

drove the monster back to my house as the owner was to scared well the brakes bind like crazy the steering needs adjusting as does the fuel air mix but its home where i can play and have access to tools from a big tool box and heavy equipment not under a bluddy tarp raining from a emergency tool bag rant over piccy time in half hour

well i opened up the brakes and all looked amazingly normal but the front wheel cylinders are shot all 4 are shot and they were a pig to get off (they are semi siezed and were over adjusted so binding) will actually take some piccys now
