Diesel filter location??

With the fuel filter in the normal position, the lift pump sucks diesel from the tank, blows it up to the filter on the bulkhead, then it runs back down to the main injector pump, OK, but I'd like to move the fuel filter under the floor (due to a twin tank conversion, I was thinking of a filter for each tank, so it would make piping easier for the two military change over switches I have?)
Does anybody know if the lift pump is happy sucking "from" the filter low down?

Your whole system may depend upon the top of the filter being the HIGHEST point in the fuel system.

If there is a self-bleeder fitted to the filter head then I recommend you leave the filter just where it is.
