Diesel additive

Hi all planning a 480 mole trip to highlands thinking about putting additive in the tank to give it good clear out any recommendations?

I don't know much about diesels, but put a tank of premium diesel in for the journey of you want to spend money

Was hoping that someone would have used something that clears out all fuel lines and other stuff

all the time ..
it were recommended to me circa 1976 in the u.s.a. by a haulage company's mechanics
[ arctic hgv's ] .. was under a different name there.

though won't help if you accidentally get a load of water in the fuel,
as i think happened to me, and cost me a hp.fuel pump.
i brimmed up the tank .. then immediately pressure washed the car,
including around the filler cap .. big mistake !!
on inspection said water were visible in the sedimenter.
having the synergy3 tuning box on 10 'n a heavy right foot didn't help matters ;-]
apart from that incident .. sedimenter content has always been clean
i drain it every 6 months or so ..

i do have a spare set of injectors with 100k miles on them,
if you fancy inspecting them ..
afaik they're in ok condition ..
i just replaced them due to age when i were chasing an issue,
said issue had nothing to do with the injectors.

btw .. i use 'regular' fuel normally
if i've no d.rhino .. i'll use 'premium' .. but that's a rarity.

Thanks for the info, seems to be running ok and having a service before we go up oil, fuel filters glow plugs etc just wanted something to help fuel side of things, good run full tank clear out.

Hi Bubble.
Do your service before your trip oil, new fuel filter, air filter, PCV filter, try and clean out the manifold, EGR and MAP sensor, then fill up with 3/4 normal diesel and 1/4 of premium diesel, then add a bottle of this below, that's all you need to do, have a good trip.

I know it's a freelander 2 but parrafin and a rag an match is bit harsh

When I do the round trip to Cardiff to collect No1 daughter in the FL2, I normally give it a bottle of Comma Diesel Magic when I fill up.
The car always runs much better after that 380 mile round trip. It does it on about ⅔ of a tank too.

Fill up with your normal fuel and just drive it.
If it is running fine then servicing it before any longish trip is not the wisest of ideas.

Recently did 1200 odd miles in my ancient D3, checked oil before I went and again before we came back.

I've looked on Google maps and it's 480 each way and now saying it might snow i cannot wait wife's not so keen doesn't like snow

Where and when are you going? No snow forecast for here...and gritter crews have been stood down for the foreseeable. Plenty of rain in the next 48 hours tho

Coming up the week before Christmas to banff, i was told to expect snow haven't seen anything on tv or anything

And maybe over to shegra (thing thats wright) sorry if spelt wrong

Banff itself doesn't get that much snow - but getting there could be interesting.
Same with the Tongue area....pretty sheltered and coastal...but the route to it can be problematic.
To be honest tho, we are not expecting much in the way of bad weather this side of Ne'erday - and that suits me just fine.

Me and wife came you there about 5 years ago to shegra and fell in love with the place and hopefully in about 4 years we'll be moving up the more remote the better
