Hi people

Would a cheapo diagnosis machine work on my 2005 defender

Have a hawkeye for my discovery but cost 150 for it to work on my fender...

On eBay there's some for a lot cheaper but unsure if they will work?

Cheers

Defenders of that vintage haven't got full OBD compliance, so you need something specific to the Land Rover. Probably the cheapest option is to get another licence for the existing Hawkeye. Some people claim to have had some success with cheap generic code readers, but it could end up just being a waste of money getting one.

When I was running 2 Land Rover products I decided not to buy another licence for my existing Nanocom as when you come to sell you'll never recoup your cash. I bit the bullet and bought a separate unit.
Both now sold and didn't really lose that much. Certainly not the cost of a 2nd licence.
I was also concerned should the unit break or be stolen then I'd be 2 licences down
