Hi all, could someone tell me if my 1999 P38 has an ODB2 diagnostic port as I am looking at diagnostic tools at present thanks Mick

They all have the port, but whether it will run standard OBDII diagnostics depends on whether you have a diesel or petrol.
There are Land Rover-specific devices available that will do much more than any OBD reader/software.

Thanks for that ,I am just considering options at the moment.I dont know whether to go for a full system or just a reader at this stage .

The port is in the footwell next to the transmission tunnel in front of the glove box on RHD.
There are no simple readers for the P38 that will cover all systems, but you can get some info on the V8 ECU using the ELM chip.
You can get a dedicated fault reader/clearer, but you are much better off with a Nanocom that will cover all systems on your car and give live data and allow manipulation of windos and many other settings.

I agree on the Nanocom. I bought mine even before I found my P38. It has already proved invaluable - a few days in, the battery died completely. After a recharge the car powered up but the BECM had screwed up all it's settings, including sync with the ECU. I was up and running almost immediately (albeit forearmed with a reasonable amount of knowledge of what problems I could well encounter). Without a Nanocom I could not have done that, so as far as I'm concerned it has already proved to be a sound investment.

Thanks for that gents i will look for a nanocom then just need to find someone to show me what to do with it. spanners are no problem at all but i am not into wizardry or electronics
