Im looking into doing a proper job on mine, but my god it's abit daunting!

Thers hundreds of products out ther, and I know ther is also a lot of info on how to do it aswell, but anyone got any personal tips?

Iv got to do some swirl correction, and also got some light surface scratches from greenlaning to take out,

So what's your routine? What do you use?

I'm thinking of starting with a snowfoam and clay bar, and looking at maguires as the factory is 15 min from my house

With polishing, I believe by hand is much harder, but with a machine if you get it wrong you can do a lot of damage?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers

I'd just pay someone, honestly mate its not worth the hours you put in or the aching shoulders the next day, employ someone who has a passion for it and the skills.

Lol fair enuf, my thoughts wer that what I'd pay someone to do it once, I could buy all the stuff and learn how to do it,

By then agen, I'm not particularly patient, so maybe detailing isn't for me?

Any ideas roughly what a l322 would cost? Couple hundred? Or am I way off?

3M Finesse It for scratch and swirl removal and any wax/clay to get the finish.
Got both products here if you fancy doing it between us one day.

Use to have a black evo 1 and spent many hours polishing, very hard work but worth every hour. Used maguires 3 step challenge and had some good results ImageUploadedByTapatalk1352671944.192422.jpg

Dunno on the costs now mate, i just know that when i had the same kinda ideas with my last BM 740 it turned into such a mammoth job that i was well bored and didnt want to stop because the difference is so noticeable between the bits you have done and the bits you havent.

now a few years older and i am pretty sure my time is better spent earning the cash to pay somebody else to do that kind of mind numbing shoulder destroying tedious crap, that and i dont really care about shiny any longer, believe it or not but the wife polishes my day car now whilst im out breaking the disco and getting it covered in crap(yeah i do know how lucky I am:D, but dont tell her that ;) )

Course you can, mate.
Any weekend to suit you should be good for me. Will even throw in food & drink too. :)

It's so much easier to get someone to do it for you
If your after a really good finish then it needs to be machine moped and hand finished
So you will need a machine mop at least three mop heads of different grades plus the different grades of compound
And even if you have all the stuff it's a **** job you end up with aching hands arms and shoulders and it takes ages
Ive done a couple of my own cars in the past and do it in bits now ie il do a couple of panels a day just to back it up

Sweet cheers pal, prob won't be Untill after Xmas now tho mate as missis is about to drop

Is it the waxing that's the difficult part?

No worries, pal. You can replace the transformer in my canopy light while I crack on with it. :D

Both are incredibly easy products to work with. I guarantee we'll transform its appearance.
I did FK's Disco a few years ago. Totally fecking pointless exercise, I hasten to add. :p

Thats about the size of it, its a ball ache without he right gear and knowledge, fixing stuff is far more fun but polishing is just, well, boring
