ok as you know my fpr was leaking so replaced that thinking that was the reason you drove for 1 mile sometimes 400 yards and it would die. it would take 5min to eventually start again the fuel pump was noisy so was gonna replace that next but decided to replace the cheaper option first so replaced the filter housing replaced that but the 2 front connections to the housing wouldnt clip back on to the housing i was pulling mu hair out by then. then i remembered my mate has this amazing kit it cost him about 300 quid top box has all the fuel connections in it and bottom box has the tool in it to clamp the heavy duty plastic pipe first u cut old end of the defender clamp the pipe then put an end on the tool and it pushes it up the plastic pipe to as very tight fit after that was all done and connected up it runs like a dream now so thanks to everyone for your advice and help

Pleased you got it sorted. What was wrong with the filter housing, could you tell?

yes filter housing was porus but not to the naked eye i ever sprayed soapy water on it never showed anything until i took it of to replace it where the metal pipes screw into it i took them out and the housing was all corrodef round where the metal pipes go into the housing replaced it as you know it was fixed after that. hope this helps
