Went to fit a new wiper motor, just out of the box. Thought it would be a simple disconnect the wiper arm cable from old motor then attach it to new motor. What I did not realise until I took the cover off the actuator arm in the motor casing, was that the new motor did not include the large gear wheel and actuator arm. It was purely the motor and worm drive. As that was the bit I thought had caused the original problem, (wiper stuck and motor giving off smoke!), I had assumed that the gear wheel and actuator arm would be part and parcel of the wiper motor unit. As it happened I had to re-use the gear wheel and arm from the old motor.
