Guys, first post on here and hoping one of the experts can give me some advice or pointers.I have looked through all the other posts and most things have been tried, the bills from the garage are getting rather steep whilst they try to diagnose.

Defender 90 td5 53 plate - once its started it idles fine and drives well, no problems at all. Its been at my local landrover specialist many times and they just cannot seem to solve the problem and have resigned to having a meeting to try and figure it out! the net is its costing money to try and fault find.

You try to start it and it will wind for upwards of a minute before you finally catch it after pumping the accelerator a few times (tried purging etc) typically accelerator flat on the floor, smoke normally comes out. It seems better when its on a cold start (although does still happen) and more often than not is problematic when its warmed up after a drive.

So far
- loom has been replaced
- mass air flow
- injector seals (twice as they check to see whether they had installed a dud set) - head pressure check etc and all is fine
- fuel filter - there was corrosion and the copper washes / fuel inlets were corroded - they thought it was sucking in air etc.

I took it for an MOT today - fuel filter / injector seals and they said it had been tested a few times etc and seemed to be better.

Well, it fired up first time so i was praying - everything seemed fine (15 minutes home), back onto drive and thought lets have a go ..... stopped the engine, restarted and problem still there - you turn the key and the starter spins and eventually you catch it.

I called the garage straight away (they are specialist independent landrover, defender etc) and they are baffled.

Can anyone give me a little advice because every time i send it back its costing me more money and the problem is not going away.

Any help much appreciated.

thanks
