Defender Td5 poor starting and the little orange chappy

Seems like one of those that can be solved by ensuring airtight system (re-routing lines if necessary) and throwing out the extraneous part.
Maybe make yourself a manual bleed valve with a Tjunc and blanking plug mounted at highest point in system.
But then again TD5 may be beyond tolerating that level of ingenuity. I have no experience with these.
Also occurs to me someone could make up a CAD to send off to a 3D printer for very little cost, if no suitable replacement is available from the systems @hobroydharry mentioned. If you're consternated over service history, "It has the fuel check valve out of a John Deere" would only make me want it more, although mileage on that one may vary.
