Hello all, any help would be great the problem with my defender td5 1999 i had the injector copper washers and o rings done about 3 weeks ago due to lots white smoke and it took long time to start say 20 30 cranks, got it back now it starts first turn of the key and no smoke but its lost power its ok on the flat straight up to 55-60 mph then thats it wont go any faster, on hills it just dies foot floor 4th gear 45-50 mph tops

Things ive had done

1/ all sensors checked on nanocom all ok
2/ new injector harness
3/ new silcone hoses and intercooler checked and cleaned
4/ injector balances all ok clearences checked all ok
5/ egr delete kit put on
6/ tried 3 diffrent fuel filters
7/wastegate checked its got 11 threads before the nut
8/ turbo checked for play theres none
9/ air filter checked and all pipe work for blockages theres none
10/ had injectors pulled out to check if genuine landrover seals were put on garage says yes they are green o rings
11/ cleaned ecu red plug with carb cleaner
12/ it had a new throttle pedal about 3 months ago
13/ had fuel pressure checked at the regulator its got 4 bar when ignition is switched on

the garage says it could be the fuel pump what you guys think

My mates lads td5 discovery was doing this it turned out his rear exhuast back box had partially collapsed. Might be worth a check?

have you had it on live diagnostics as it sounds like limp mode, perhaps from overboost, maybe the actuator arm has been wound in to much

Same symptoms on my '03 TD5 a couple of years ago. Turned out the cat' was blocked, replaced with a decat pipe and all was well. Don't know if there were cats fitted on the '99 TD5s but as SUTTY suggested make sure your exhaust is free to flow.

Although you've checked the threads on the wastegate, have you checked it actually moves? These can seize up, leading to over boost which the ECU detects and cuts fueling. When I first bought mine, it flew up to 50mph, really struggled to get to 60, and wouldn't go above that for love nor money. Check it if you haven't already done so, takes a minute and costs nothing.

Hi all,put air pressure to the acuator and the arm does move
it starts first turn of the key runs great up to 50 mph could it be the fuel pump in tank stopping it from going faster the pump sounds normal no high pitched noises, just the garage said with the injector seals going and me trying turn it over for 20-30 goes might have knacked the fuel pump thanks
