Hi All I have a problem it started when I had drove for a long time 3- 4 hour a few days later it would start I would drive a couple of miles walk the dogs start it to go back it would run a few moments then cut out the first time it did it I thought it had run out of fuel and had a faulty gauge as it started after I put some fuel in.
So I changed the pump and gauge, All ok after then I had another long run again a few days after the same.
I looked at the ecu plug it had a little oil but very little but change the injector harness any way gave the plug a good clean with contact cleaner but now it does it more frequent than before but resets quicker when turning the ignition off then back on, the one thing I have noticed when it cuts out is the temp goes to max turn the ignition off then on the temp goes to the max and will not start unless when the key is turned on the temp stays put then its start first time. Any ideas before I start spending again ?

Try checking the connections of the yellow relays under the drivers seat next to the ECU. When it fails to start again (you watch it wont do it for ages now!) jump out and while watching your temp gauge and listening for your fuel pump, waddle/push the relays one at a time. It could be the connectors are loose or corroded. Also check clean and tighten the earth that's there too.

+1 what @wireman says, there's also a blue header joint near ecu/relays under drivers seat that's been known to fail and cause your exact sympomts ;)

Google 'td5 blue header joint' or similar, theres a few hits on different forums you should find a diagram floating about :)

Thanks will give it a go I had read about the blue plug joint box I have wiggled that and tapped it nothing changed I unplugged the black plug from the ecu and plugged it back in and that reset the temp gauge with the ignition still on but most of the time just turning it on and off until the temp go back seams to work
I will let you know if it works with the relays

Take all the seat bases out and the panels off the gearbox, check your harness over the gearbox and any breakouts as well. My obd port breakout had been re-routed, I moved it back where it should be and secured it with tape along the main loom. It got better after this but I could always get mine going by backheeling the seatbox as i was sat in drivers seat :D

As you said it didn't do it yesterday but this morning it cut out pushed on the yellow relay it clicked and the temp went down and started so hopefully problem found Thanks for your help
