Hi guys. New to the forum but have gotten a lot of useful info from here so far! Posted this yesterday but not sure was in the right section

Ive got an early td5 Defender 90 ‘01 5CFEB785-1303-4550-A46A-AADA336D6FC5.jpeg 3F8DF6E8-0988-4C3B-84B3-808CFD4FC4D1.jpeg . and am slowly upgrading it to modern standards. Im trying to replace all the switches with carling rockers and so far been ok until i got to the interior lights. The old ones never worked and i decided to go with LED strips in the foot wells. Using a carling switch ive got to the point where they work when inturn them on full time. When i turn them on the door setting they turn on but are extremely dim but then won’t turn off automatically (I changed all the door switches and cleaned the connections(
So started looking behind the dash and found the AS10 (heard a lot of good things - NOT - alarm doesnt work btw) and noticed that the purple/brown wire going into it had been spliced and with a 15amp fuse connected to the ignition barrel

I don’t really get what’s going on now maybe someone has tried to bypass something?
How do i fix this and get the courtesy lights to work with the doors?
Tks in advance
