Ive got a 110 with no speakers. I bought some 4" speakers which id like to preferbly like to mount somewhere on the lower dash but am unsure eactly where?

I would be gratefull for anyadvice

Depends on - what age your defender is pre / post Td5 & how deep your speakers are.

I got a decent set of speakers in mine placed into the lower section of the dash, but I have a Td5 wiper motor. Pre Td5 the wiper motor is in the part of the dash so you will need skinny speakers.

You could put them in the door, but they will proberly need to be waterproof!

Or in the headlining, there is a company that makes custom headlinings for defenders with speaker pods built in. La Selle or something like that - they advertise in the land rover mags.

Thanks for your help. It's a 1989. The speakers aren't that skinny but I guess I could Put some spacer thIngs behind them?

When I got my 90 I replaced the cheapo speakers in the front with some nicer Alpine ones. They attach to the standard headlining on either side, had to make up some spacers out of wood which I painted with a nice black finish to accommodate the depth of the new speakers, along with some longer screws.

I have a LaSalle headlining in mine (excellent piece of kit) I bought it second hand from a fellow LZ member, sadly it did not have the speaker pod option. So I got two 4" speaker spacer rings from Mudstuff and fitted them to the headlining just above and behind the front seats.

Spacers are fine, however when I installed mine on spacers first time around I kept banding me knee into the speakers, as they where quite deep. Which got tiresome.

Have you looked behind the seats?
In the corner between the door lock catch and the bulkhead.

I can't remember if it will foul the reel seatbelt as I have harnesses, but I've just fitted some pod type speakers to the strengthener plate in those corners.
