defender problems again :( help

hi all well there samething wrong with the defender yet again
well my brakes stuck on so decided to take the drum off on the end of the transfur box and the nuts holding the prop are siezed and i have tryed allsorts to get them of and now there rounded of

what i want to know is do i need the prop of from the drum side to remove it or can i take the prop of from the back do you know of any good ways of getting them out cheers once again

you need to undo the prop at the drum because the bolt go thru the output shaft flange and thru the drum then bolt to the prop.

Get the proper sized imperial spanner which IIRC is 3/8th UNF. or try thin wall 6 sided socket on them there is a proper prop nut tool you can buy that might help.

It's 9/16th AF. A 14mm socket will usually do.

That's funny cause my microcat says it's 3/8th UNF and that's what I bought when I fitted my new propshaft, about 6 months ago.

All the ones I've had are 9/16. I've got a favourite old ring spanner with a nice slim ringy bit that I keep specially for propshafts.

Probably 9/16ths AF is the same as 3/8th UNF yu know what these old bolt sizes are like. Microcat only covers post 87 defenders (inc 90 &110's) so They may well have changed bolt sizes.

As I suspected two different answers and both were correct!! 9/16th AF is the same as 3/8thUNF and 14.29mm
