Hi all, I have noticed the plastic A bars on the new Puma Defenders and would like to get one for my J reg 90.

I was just seeking hoping for a little advice on where I might be able to get one.

I appreciate there are probably expensive, but unless the price is ridiculous I would like to fit one.

I have seen Rebel sell something similar, but I cant tell if it is the genuine article or something similar.

I know some people might have a low opinion of the plastic model, but any ideas on where to source one? Will I end up contacting our local LR dealer and getting given a silly price?

Cheers,
Soms.

Hahahaha You have bought one of the poorest build quality motors on the market and you're worried that the A bar you like may not be a genuine parts :hysterically_laughi

I suppose the advantage of it been a pattern part is that at least it'll be better made than a Genuine Part.

I'm not to fussed about it being genuine, just the same design.
Either i'm missing something or finding info or any suppliers isn't very easy!

This is what Rebel sell, the pic isn't really detailed enough to compare to the equally low resolution pictures of new landys.

Tell your insurance you've fitted it! there's a guy on another forum got his Defender pinched recently and it looks like the insurance company are going to weasel out of paying as he didn't declare his plastic A-bar and spots.
His was a genuine LR one fitted by the dealer too.

Hi Lighning, who was the insurance company, did it say in his post?

Yes a lot of money to justify for something that at best only looks good.

Yeah I got one of they in the garage. Might just whack it back on there tomorrow. I wasn't sure about the looks but its not to bad will save a shed load of dosh.

I have a set of spots as well but one needs replacing, their Ring Rally Giants and one of the catches that holds the glass in place on the lamp dropped off on the road

Typical of the insurance doing anything to avoid paying out :(
On the other hand someone told me to declare any spots as driving lights as these improve your vehicles presence and might lower your premium.

Personally I haven't declared anything, although now my Landy is my everyday/do everything car its been "de-treved" a little and is now pretty standard except for some AT tyres, snorkel and A bar when it goes back on.

i was going to get one but wasent shaw weather to or not they cost alot more so obviously are better i think that one in rebel is genuine but not shaw you could always ring them but i no were to get a definate genuine one from but the price is unbelievable its simmonties.com there quite good but weather or not it is more for the genuine or just cheaper on rebel dont know.

What's with people paying good money to make their landy look stupid. Get a metal one that actually has some functional use. If you just want something to bolt yer lights to drill two holes in the bumper.

one insurer i was with werent happy about the bull bar on the 90. but couldnt give a toss about the pedestrian maiming superwinch stuck out the front of the 110 cause it were factory fitted therefore not classed as a mod

Exactly my thoughts mate. Metal gives you a lot more armour than plastic fantastic anyday of the week.
You know when you've got a metal bumper when you clonk your head on it like I did today!
