I sold my defender 90 about 3 months ago to get a transit van for a new business venture which involved collecting ride mowers etc from all over the country and the reason I sold my defender was I thought I need something a little less noisey etc so I bought a transit van! big mistake more rot on it than my 92 defender which was immaculate compaired to the van, anyway my question is do I get a td5 disco or a 200/300 defender? I need something that can pull a medium sized trailer with ease and at a decent speed? is the the 300 slightly quicker than the 200? I know you can only do 60 anyhow with a trailor on but just asking you guys for some advice really?

cheers lee

I think you should get a disco even thought i have and love defenders but if you are traveling a lot get a disco.

cheers for the feedback guys so defenders even with a disco transfer box are no good? what will a defender 200/300 cruise at comfortably? also only downfall is ya cant run td5 disco's on bio can you? I used to run my defender 200 on veg oil and bio all the time:D

Also heard some horror storeys about disco's being awkward to work on and also engines aren't good? can someone put me right here and are they still easy to work on like defenders are?

Lack of info doesn't really help. What else do you need to carry? Do you need a solid bulkhead behind seats for the safe carriage of fuel etc for these mowers? Will you be fitting a tacho? Will vehicle be used for social/domestic purposes as well? etc.....

Hi I just need the landy to tow a medium sized trailer with a ride on sized on it and I wouldn't be carrying anything else apart from a few tool's but there's one or two of them on here int there :D

How about an earlier Disco, with a 300tdi? If you can find a good one you will avoid all the electronics, mad anti roll stuff etc. It will also run on bio.

I know what your saying but like the td5 better! Has or is anyone on here running a td5 on bio?

Cheers lee
