Hello!

I'm new to the forum and very soon to be new to Landrover, having just fulfilled a childhood dream and out a deposit on a Defender.
Still wondering if I'm quite right in the head, as it'll be replacing a Jap pickup less than half its age, but having just footed a thousand quid bill to sort out various issues with the electronic engine gadgets, not my first such bill with similar motors, I thought I'd just see if there was a Defender out there, worth owning, that I could afford!
As it turned out, there was, so I'm soon to be the proud new owner of a 90 Hardtop 300tdi. It needs some cosmetic work doing and the middle seat swapping for a cubby box, but otherwise its in good shape and quite unmolested.

No doubt I'll be lurking around here for tips, advice and inspiration.

Cheers!

Hi and welcome!

A Defender is so much more fun than the Japanese vehicles, at least in our opinion! Good luck with the new Landy, don’t forget some pics too. And invest in some decent security measures too, they’re popular with thieves.

Yes, I've driven various for work although they were often poorly maintained and somewhat unloved they are much more fun to drive! I've been rolling around in a much loved, though slightly neglected old 90 belonging to my Father-in-law for the last couple of weeks whilst the Navara has been off the road, and decided to have a little look again at buying one.

Thankfully the one I'm buying has some security kit with it, which I will look at adding to

Upgrade the security. Too easily stolen and often are.

Thanks!

Yep, bought a steering lock and there's a pedal box/thing coming with it. Thankfully it'll be in a locked compound all day while I'm at work and the drive is well lit and overlooked so it'll hopefully still be there every morning!
