Defender left front light fuse

too much peak current. Do the headlight mod in the Q's and A's.

If it blows ever time, first time, and you have put a larger fuse in just to check, it is UNLIKELY to be just a surge when switched on (althogh not imposible) because obviously the circuit was designed to do its job.
Do you have additional spot lights fitted drawing more current???
If not it if most likely you have a dead short somewhere, and the fuse is doing its job. If it is just on one side then you can trace the wires back to their source.
It should go hrough the switch, then into the fusebox, then out of each of the fuses to the lights.
Obvious places are behind the lamp in the wing (or the bulb connector), in the dash board (after the switch and the bification of the circuit to the two fuses (not sure what year you have so can't say where this is).
Either that or a mouse/rat etc has eaten through a cable somewhere and shorted it out (good luck finding that

thats when it was first designed - not with 30 odd ywars of modifications, possible addons or earthing problems.
check every connection and clean and then vaseline em, for starters.

Best advice would be to make sure there is not a faut somewhere.
Other tests to do would include removing the bulb, and trying the circuit. If it blows again then there is a fault between the fuse holder and the lamp.

I had the same thing happen, but on the right hand side. Couldn't find anything so i just changed all the bulbs and it seems to be fine.
