I just bought an isolator switch with a removable "key". I want to fit it on the starter motor earth if this will work, but I want the switch body to be somewhere accessible so I actually bother to use it.

Has anyone done this, if so how?

I got one, but would warn that if you put it under the passenger seat in the side of the battery box, whenever anyone gets in they will knock it out and it will reset all your stereo channels!

Don't fit it in the earth loop!
One day you'll forget and try to operate your starter with it off, which will try to earth through your handbrake cable and any other metallic connection and melt them.
Fit it in the battery live feed and mount the isolator on the front of the battery box.
If you want to keep your radio and clock fed with power, wire a 5A fuse in parallel with the isolator.

Mornin Oddie.
Merry Christmas.
Are the kids unbearably eggcited?
yes, although we are distinctly using father christmas as bribery to try and get our older one to behave!!! I guess your son's little one is pretty excited - being about the same age as ours, i would expect it's probably her first year of really understanding what's going on!?

Have a good un!

Get one rated high enough! I fitted an FIA one but using my winch at a comp but burnt it out it was only rated at 70A. So now I fitted a Marine one rated at over 400Amps @12v. Jai
