Hey guys! after a real struggle to find a 90 one turned up on my doorstep! A guy wanted to buy my Fiat 500 so he turned up to see it in a 1998 300tdi. He ended up not buying my car so i bought his! Its in very good condition and a 2 owner car (a farmer and a post man) its done 89000 miles and is in just fantastic untouch ed condition, i cant beleive it! Only problem is it stinks of wet dog! and i mean stinks so fist up will be new carpets and seats also i little sound proofing; i also will do all the head lining and sides. oh and get the rear wheel off as its warping the door!
Down the line it could prob do with rebushing and a new windscreen rubber.

A few questions when i indicate it buzzes is that normal?

when you turn the ignition what lights should come on? (first turn) battery, oil and heater coil, turn engine over i have battery on untill i rev it a bit and park light and ! light which both go off with hand brake? is that right, what is ! light?

Cant work out heater but its f8cking hot.

Cheers and fell fee to suggest and thing i should change!

cant upload pics for some reason! maybe there to big!

oh and Kez your PM are full!

regarding the dog smell, get some odour neutraliser and spray it everywhere then just open all windows and let it dry out and air.

As yours is a 300tdi yes they should mine a 1988 2.5 td ( 200tdi ) which up till last weekend had disco / defender freestyles fitted but had wheel spaces on aswell which are needed for my year model ;)

thanks for that rattler! and as for the dog smell i would need the world supply! PO took dogs to the beach twice a day for 2 years without cleaning!

My insurance is with Flux and im also taking out an agreed value with them, i paid £3500 for landy so on my insurance i got through it says that the value of the car is also £3500?
What would you say it worth? is £3500 right for it? on the ageed value forms theres on where to put whats the cars worth!

cheers

Prob worth about £4k I reckon

No bling! just going to do all the bushes ( is it worth polybushing?) new springs and dampers, sort the carpets and headlinging and thats all i think.
oh and what springs should a put on standard or heavy duty?

oh yeah and i'll replace all the rubber and foam seals around the body!

been under landy today with a mate rocking it and the rear radius bushes and ball joint thingy above are causing knocking noise i think, so hopfully good news.

Glad you finally found one - looks clean

I'd be getting some dinitrol, ankor wax or soem other protection on it to make sure it stays that way

And seemingly it has dry carpets as well as a working heater!!!!

Depends what you it for, I have HD springs on mine and it's fine when loaded up with heavy stuff all the time but is a bit hard and bone jarring when empty. If you don't carry lot of heavy stuff often then Just get standard ones.

I prob put 500kg of generators and welding/ tools and other ****e in the back of mine on the odd occasion

Hey yeah its getting steam cleaned at work painted and dentirol, as for dry are any? got 2 small drips coming in top front doors.

No heavy stuff so normal springs it is! Just been on paddocks and cant figure out what to buy? and i hear brit part goods aint very good!

I need

2x front normal springs 2x rear
2x front shock and 2x rear shock
full polybush the whole car including front end
and a ball joint thingy for the upper A frame thing

As you can see aint got a clue but im a fast learner is someone can tell me what i need?

cheers...

All IMHO but.

1 wheels, don't bother the offset on disco alloys makes them look poor. Look at modular wheels.
2. I've got Britpart HD springs on mine. Great on road but a bit too harsh for rough tracks.

I think paddocks do a standard spring set, but it's not obvious on the website. You can definitely get standard pairs and not too dear.

Ball joint replacement guide on here in the busters guides. Polybush may make ride harsh if running standard springs, if bushes are mostly ok, replace any dodgy ones with oem rubber.

Run out of lunch time to surf the net!! Catcha sometime.

Agreed!

You have checked your UJ's.?!

That looks in remarkably good nick for it's age. :D Good buy!
It's a genuine county station wagon too. Although mine has the word county in the decal under the rear window.
Does the service history show that the timing belt has been changed? It should have been by now if it has done 86K. Well worth checking before you spend money on alloys etc. Good peace of mind.

Hey! Ail. No record of timing belt being done so i will do it! it is in good condition bits of welding here and there (rear door).
Wheres the best place to buy repair sections for door bottoms!

so i knocked it out of gear and looked for play rear prop (normal i think) so put handbrake on slid under rear of landy and rocked it back and forth about an inch and every time i rocked the landy there was clunk coming from around the rear diff i think?

Had a quick look and N/S radius arm to axle bush is shot, all the rest seem ok but nose of axle moving up and down, not a big issue, the rest looks pretty good, very tidy.

cheers kes! good to see you! When buying parts many say thing like ok up to KA930455 which i take is the model or vin number! But on my vin plate it looks like its starts with a W or H A150439? Or is it just a misformed K?
