Hi folks,

My 02 defender has started an odd game.

Both key fobs will set the allarm and immobiliser but, they take turnes as to which will dissable it.

Currently i have to carry both key sets with me as i never k ow which its gonna be.

Any thaughts other than change batteries would be greatfully recieved.

Any recommendations on aftermarket locking systems to achive the same thing also would be appreciated.

Thanks

John.

After market locking for a defender, would be a Pitbull dog with its knackers tied off. There a lot of Jimmy the Dinks happy to offer advice and test the theory. As for the fobs being dickie is the master one the problem. Worth finding out if that failing due to age

Oh right thanks.

Im not sure weather a castraited pitbull is a good thing or not.

Um both the fobs take turns working and not working im not sure which is the master.

Are replacment fobs a thing that can be easaly gotten?

Master would be marked Landrover I guess. You could buy a genuine one from Landrover but I suspect that might be pricey. Has this been failing recently and when did you replace the Landy battery. There normally a preceedure if fobs and onboard computer not working. Normally disconnect the battery for half an hour to allow the capacitor bank to drain then reconnect and click several times each fob near the door to reset.

I changed the batt in the car about a year ago.

Ill try resetting like you suggested.

I removed the immobilser on my TD5, not worth the bother. Basically it just stops the actual owner from using their Landy intermittingly. I was chasing faults and contacted a really helpful guy in Brighton who fixes the 10AS unit - and from that I just permanently switched it off. It still flashes the light on the speedo so it looks on - but its not.
I would then just buy a pedal lock if you're worried about theft.
