My heater demist or blow it on the floor leaver moves up and down ok but doesn't do anything it stays on demist , ok for the summer but now needing heat on the floor, where does the cable end up , I'm presuming that it's come adrift at the heater box wherever that is ?.

If you look at the heater box there is a cable clamped to the mechanism on the top and one at the side. Check they are both secure, I can't remember which controls which. Ensure the cable runs free and lubricate. hopefully that should get you going and its nothing more sinister. Watch this chap take one apart.

I thought the heater control for the distribution lever went into the dash and actuated a valve there , not to the heater box.

Unfortunately it's the worst one to do as well. The lower dash has to be dropped and the tin cover removed to replace or reattach the cable unless it's come adrift at the lever end then it's simple.

As a temporary measure you could remove the two plastic air ducts and push the flaps in with your finger to get heat to your feet.

Finally got time today to have a look and it was the cable pulled off the lever, so a quick fix, on the downside I've found a bit more rust !.
