Hi there had not driven my 2002 td5 defender 90 for a week or so. I went to start it the other day and when I turned the ignition I couldn’t hear the fuel pump priming nor did the glow plug light show up on the dash. The car turns over with compression but will not start. There must be a fuel pump issue so far I have checked the relay which seems to be fine. Any ideas as what to do?

Have you tried to reset the fuel cut off button under the bonnet?
No glow plug light is sometimes a result of a faulty ecu.
Quite a few thread on here which might be useful if you take a look.

Just tried pressing the fuel cut off button still the same. I’ve had the car stage 2 at a reputable landrover place they also replaced the injector harness so I asssume the ECU would be fine. But it seems like the fuel pump is not working so either faulty pump or an electrical problem. I haven’t checked any fuses yet for the glow plugs.

Just because the ecu was fine doesn't mean it is now, does it?
Hopefully some of the checks will show up the problem.
