I just thought I'd see whether there's any catches to the following:
Basically the UJ on the front prop on the gearbox side has gone (quite spectacularly). Currently it's in London but due to circumstances out of my control to be fixed it's going to have to head back home to West Wales.
If it's removed completely and the centre diff is locked are there any catches (while driven carefully) for the 350 mile drive back to West Wales? Once it's there then things will be sorted out to replace the UJ but can't be done here because a working vehicle has to be here for someone else and I don't have time to fix it (or enough tools) to fix it up here.
God I wish this was my Series not the Defender (Td5 90), so much simpler and less to go wrong. If anyone else has tried to get the front prop off a Defender then hopefully they'll know what I mean.
I think this quote from DiffLock sums up the problem quite nicely:

Given a choice between splitting the atom and undoing the retaining nuts on a Land Rover propshaft, the atom has to be the easy option
