Hi all

Do the doors from a Defender 90 fit straight on to a Series IIA without
any major problems?

Yes, though you will probably have to change the latches that fit on
the tub at the back of the doors too.
Probably also worth fitting the defender hinges so that you get a
decent mirror mounting point

Defender doors is the top thing on my list of upgrades for my 2A now
that the draft round the edge of my door tops is getting pretty
strong!

You need to fit the striker plate as well, and will have to cobble up
something for the door check mechanism, as it is different. Other than
this the only problem you should be aware of is that the Defender doors are
a LOT thicker than the 2a doors. If you keep the standard steering wheel
you may find yourself running out of elbow room - and if you fit a smaller
wheel you may be looking for power steering. As Tom Woods says, the
Defender hinges and mirrors may be worth fitting, although here you should
remember that the doors will be a lot heavier, and the later hinges ensure
they will fall shut even on level ground in the absence of a check
mechanism as on the Defender.
