I can get into my Defender by using just about any household key and even my finger nails

Is there any point changing the locks as I've heard it's a common issue?? Or should I get some sort of locking cubby for storing bits and pieces??

thanks

You can buy a lock set of e-gay for about £25 for 5. I got some for my def' and they seem decent.

I can't open them with my fingernails anyway!

i got 3 barrels from crapocks for 7 quid.
think about it , when you buy locks of e gay , your basically giving someone called 'bigboy47' the key to your landy and telling them where you live.

Daily Mail reader are we?

If someone wants to knick my landy they will. I'm not going to sit barricaded into my house, cradling my shotgun living in fear that everyone I transact with on the internet/ under 18 years old/ looks dodgy is going to come round stick a knife in me and rob me blind.

95% of people on ebay are like you and me. It wouldn't be the worlds' largest internet auction site if every other transaction ended in a robbery ffs!

dont read news papers, i find em to be full of crap.
did the term i used 'e gay' strike a nerve?
you seem a bit rattled for some reason.

did the term i used 'e gay' strike a nerve?

As I used the term about 3 posts ago in the same topic probably not.

Just making the point that ebay is not the root of all evil.

And for a good old bit of emperical proof- I bought locks of ebay 6 months ago, and last time I checked the landy is still on drive.

I bought a set of barrels off ebay, used one in my rear door and its been great, no more lollypop sticks!

Tip: use LOTS of oil and kero to get them to come out!

mine was so badly corroded in i had to drill it out.
when you put the new ones in use copper grease to make sure they come back out again should the need arise.
i didnt.

Why use copper grease when you could use a grease thats developed for the job? Like a water resistant general purpose grease. Copper grease is designed for purposes where it won't get much movement and plenty of heat i.e. screwthreads on brakes, not doorlocks. It's a bit like putting engine oil in your diffs.

THanks............ I will certainly get some new ones and go about botching up the re - fit (girly sigh) no problems with ebay either, I sold my Disco on it!!!!

theres a thread on here somwhere with pics of 5 lever dead locks fitted on a defender
or you could do what im considering
paint it white apply some yellow stripes and hide it in local police staion carpark

oi, watch it boyo! ;) rare as rocking horse **** up 'ere 'em gloves...

since reading your post nobber on barrels and addresses i have moved house! to the otherside of Bristol :) thanks for your thoughtfullness, although i havent fitted the barrels yet.
