can the front doors on a defender be adjusted other than the catch on the pillar? fitted some thin foam sealing strips to stop the water hitting me in the chops passenger doors fine,but driver door needs a good slam to shut,treid adjusting the pillar catch but no luck
 
The hinges only really adjust the doors position within the frame. But moving it around does help with closing.

Or you could remove the foam and adjust the door to close the gap without it. It may be that the door tops need bending back like mine do.
 
Couple things to think about if your 110 has proper doors as opposed to the things with roll-up windows:

Hinges can wear badly if that's the case might be time too think about a new top hinge. Also, door seals are not all the same. if the ones on the truck are crap or blue box replacements you might want to think about good quality OEM ones. had this problem on my truck - could not get the doors to close right until i replaced the seals.

Door lateral and vertical adjustment can definitely make a difference - make sure that you've not got your doors shoved all the way back so the fromt lips don't engage the seals properly.

Lastly, check that your door tops aren't bent outward - seen that more times than i care to think about. They need to be nearly vertical with a slight lean inward.

I fitted some reasonable condition replacement doors to my Landie this weekend, and I couldn't get the old hinges undone from the A Pillar, so left em on there for now.

whats the best way to get the crossheads undone on the A pillar?
 
Ah ok, I'll leave it for now then until I can afford to get a repaint, as I don't wanna take all the paint off the bulkhead!

A drill. Just drill the feckers to smithereens! Replace with nice stainless bolts. There's kits out there. Don't forget to copper slip the ss bolts and put Dinitrol or ACF50 on the new clips you're using.
